Astrological Forecast for March 1-7, 2007

by Ellen Zucker

The celestial skies are interesting this week as we enter the first week of March and the last week of Mercury's retrograde journey.

Mercury is slowing now as it prepares to resumeits forward journey next week. As it comes to a stop at 25 degrees of Aquarius, it opposes the position where Saturn stationed this pastDecember.

In other words, look at whatever came to a headin the first half of December. Expect to receivethoughts and communications that will reactivate that issue.

The usual Mercury retrograde advice continues toapply: Refrain from signing major contracts andmaking major commitments, double check your appointments, back up your computer, continue to be flexible.

But Mercury's retrograde period is an excellent time to research, refine, re-examine, redo, andreview. Get in touch with old friends, resuscitatestale leads. But be prepared to move forward in a week.

It is common for people to complain aboutMercury Retrograde periods. 'Oh, no,Mercury is going retrograde AGAIN!!!'

But a little perspective is in order.

In Western, especially American culture,we push ourselves to go full steam ahead 24/7. Mercury Retrograde periods give us amuch needed time out.

Used properly, Mercury Retrograde gives usa time to catch up on loose ends, and reviewand revise what we have accomplished.

So, instead of moaning, you may want toincorporate Mercury Retrograde into yourplanning. And save yourself much energy and angst in the process.

Just a hint, Mercury Retrograde occursapproximately every 4 months for 3 weeks.

The Saturn/Neptune opposition came toexactitude yesterday, although its effects willcontinue to a part of our celestial scenery through mid-summer.

In our private lives we are still dancing as we try to reconcile our dreams and visions (Neptune)that continue to be tested against the demandsof cold reality (Saturn).

When two planets face each other down from opposite ends of the zodiac, an aspect we astrologers call an 'opposition,' the tendency is to think in terms of either/or. But the solution to an impasse is frequently found in a third option.

In fact, all the while, friendly Jupiter has beeninching up to relieve the opposition's pressure.

If you are feeling stuck, consider tapping into theJupiter's resources. The answers to your dilemmamay lie in the wisdom of academia or religion. If your block is related to your business, considertalking to a marketing consultant.

Or, if you are running United States' foreignpolicy and you have been stuck between Iraq anda hard place for many months, (my thanks to astrologer Jim Shawvan for that turn of thephrase), the Jupiterian realm of diplomacy mayhold some answers.

Also this week, we begin eclipse season. Eclipsestravel in pairs, a lunar or Full Moon eclipseaccompanied two weeks later with a solar or NewMoon eclipse.

Eclipses are like new and full moons on steroids. Eclipses have a well-deserved reputation fortriggering events when they hit sensitive points of a loaded chart.

If an eclipse does not hit any sensitive points onyour chart, it will most likely pass you by as somuch background noise.

On Saturday morning, the lunar eclipse occurs at 13 degrees of Virgo/Pisces. So charts with planetsand sensitive points at or near 13 to 15 degrees ofmutable signs, (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, andPisces), will feel the effects more strongly thanothers.

Virgo seeks to classify and organize detail: Piscesblurs the edges. Virgo governs duty, obligation, and Pisces, our compassion. This configuration asks us to balance both ends of the spectrum.

Standing next to the Sun in this lunar eclipse is freedom-loving Uranus, the bringer of surprise.Sacrifice and duty in and of itself is not enough. And if they are unduly restricting you, and yourchart is closely impacted, you are likely to, at the very least, rattle your chains or break thementirely - or events may do it for you.

This eclipse may also unleash something unexpected in the headlines. Stay tuned.

Daily Forecasts
Times listed are based on Eastern Time Zone.

March 1
The Sun is in Pisces, the Moon in Leo. While Pisces is the more introspective of the two signs, they both favor creative expression. The flamboyant Leo moon glows in the lightof friendly Jupiter. If you show off the fruits of your creative expression this afternoon, you are likely to find a receptive audience.

Tonight the ongoing issues raised bySaturn/Neptune demand attention.

March 2
Moon opposing Mercury can lead to harshwords this morning. If you can get ego out of the way, the door is open to clear the airbefore 2:02 pm when the Moon makes aconstructive aspect with Pluto. At 4:32 pmthe Moon enters Virgo setting the tone fortomorrow's full moon eclipse.

March 3
At 6:17 pm, the moon is full. But this fullmoon is a lunar eclipse. Freedom-lovingUranus won't allow us to sacrifice ouremotional freedom to the demandsof duty and sacrifice.

March 4
Take note of your dreams as you awaken.Jupiter asks you to step outside and take a larger view. Otherwise, this is a good day to digest yesterday's events.

March 5
The Moon has entered conciliatory Libra bythe time we awaken, softening our emotional hard edges. Yet the Sun meets up withiconoclastic Uranus. We are not willing tobe pushed around, but we will be graciousin deflecting over-the-top requests.

March 6
We may give in to the requests of an assertive woman while hiding our displeasure with a smile. But tensions dissipate later in the afternoon andthe evening is most enjoyable.

March 7
Communication fills the air as Mercury and Moon trade energy this morning. Mercury has come to a stop and it will resume its forward motion tomorrow, so phones are ringing and we are in constant motion. After the Moon goes void at 2:51 pm, it enters Scorpio at 5:17 pm where theemotional tone deepens.
