Analyzing current astrology conditions, or reading a chart for that manner, is not unlike creating a watercolor painting.
First, the artist lays down a wash of color. Then she layers other colors over it. Depending on how wet the brush, the colors will mix and blend - sometimes in surprising ways. That is part of the magic of painting - and the magic of astrology. Only in the case of astrology, it is the heavens that choose the colors for us.
This week, Mercury, the planet ruling Gemini, the sign where we had last week's new moon, and where the Sun still resides, visits Cancer. So quick talking Mercury along with the planets in the signs that he rules, Gemini and Virgo, will all pick up a Cancerian cast.
So we begin to get a taste of Cancer's energy that will predominate later in the month. Our reactions are just a little less mental and a little more inward.
Mercury will remain in Cancer until the end of the month (June 28th).
On Saturday, Mars exits Cancer to strut its stuff in flamboyant Leo. Mars describes our desires and how we go about acquiring what we want. In business charts, Mars describes the competitiveness of its staff.
Mars is comfortable and direct in fiery Leo. Because Leo is a fixed sign, we can generally control and sustain efforts. Mars in Leo also favors creative pursuits.
Mars will remain in Leo until July 23rd when it visits precise and persnickety Virgo.
Just as a heads up, by mid-month, Jupiter and Saturn will come to blows with each other as they face off with a square aspect. Mars will add fuel to the fire on June 17th as it meets up with Saturn. The combination is akin to flooring the gas and brake pedals at the same time. It's a jumpy ride and you don't travel very far. But you sure use lots of energy and add wear and tear to your vehicle.
Expect obstacles and expect people around you, particularly authority figures, to be on edge and overly sensitive. Get as much accomplished as possible earlier in the month and try to avoid scheduling important deadlines and presentations around this date.
June 1
Mercury the planet of communication and the mind faces off Pluto the planet of power of transformation. The configuration brings to mind the phrase 'speaking truth to power.' If you are moved to speak truth to power, understand that Power does not always welcome spoken truth.
Nonetheless, your keen assessment of your environment and the people within it will serve you well.
June 2
Mars is in its last degree of Cancer and Mercury near the end of Gemini. Finishing up a project now is appropriate as you finish out the workweek.
Communication eases this afternoon as Moon enters Virgo. Your senses are sharp and you are able to be more detached than you have been on the last two or three days. The moon's sojourn through Virgo marks a good period for tending to details and putting records in order.
June 3
Mercury enters Cancer and Mars enters Leo. We feel a change of energy.
Today is also the first quarter moon. Sun in Gemini, Moon in Virgo, and Uranus in Pisces face off in a configuration astrologers call a 'T' square. An unexpected occurrence may throw a curve ball into your plans. Clear the clutter so you can take a larger perspective.
June 4
Yesterday's tension still lingers. Today, stern Saturn blocks Venus. We find ourselves second guessing our self worth. Stay detached and refrain making judgments.
Surprise and electricity remain in the air today and into tomorrow as Sun moves closer to its exact square to Uranus.
June 5
The square from Sun to Uranus is exact in the early morning. But with Moon moves into Libra in the early am. Tonight it makes a stabilizing aspect to Saturn. As the day progresses we calm down and relax.
June 6
As Moon moves through Libra we are challenged to balance the needs of our partners with our own. Sometimes that is difficult because we have to deal with the baggage of our own, and our partner's, unhealed wounds.
The key is to maintain perspective.
June 7
Today it is best to stay with routine tasks. Emotions intensify as Moon moves into moody Scorpio this afternoon (4:42 pm EDT).
