Astrological Forecast for December 14 to 20, 2006by Ellen Zucker
Being airborne is an incredible experience. Nonetheless, despite anyone's strongest desire to fly, we are not birds. We do not have wings and we are heavier than air. It is only through ingenuity and mechanical engineering that we humans have fashioned contraptions to allow us to escape the clutches of gravity; and then only for finite periods.
These contraptions - airplanes, rockets, hot air balloons - depend on the burning fuel to keep us aloft. Eventually the fuel burns out and, like it or not, we have to return to Mother Earth.
This week we begin our descent from the heavens. Fortunately our descent is gentle and takes place over several weeks. Venus has taken the lead, advancing into earthy Capricorn this past weekend. Venus is joined by the Moon on Wednesday and the Sun next Thursday.
Capricorn is an Earth sign. Earth signs excel in dealing with the world of nuts and bolts and we will deal more and more with nuts and bolts reality for a few weeks.
The Sun's entrance into Capricorn marks the Winter Solstice, and, for those in the northern hemisphere, it marks the day with the shortest hours of daylight. More about that next week.
But that leaves five planets in Sagittarius and, with Saturn in Leo, a total of six fiery planets. Our spirits still soar.
The top story this week is the approaching New Moon at 28 Sagittarius. It caps a five day period of intensity.First the Moon travels through Pluto's sign, Scorpio this weekend. On Monday, the Sun, shines its light on Pluto, planet of power and the Underworld. On Wednesday, the Moon meets Pluto. Later that day, it meets the Sun - a New Moon.
This New Moon will be close enough to Pluto so give the start of this lunar cycle a charge of nuclear intensity.
Since 1995, Pluto has been traveling through idealistic, the-glass-is-always-half-full optimism of Sagittarius exposing the dark side to all that Sag touches. Government and the legal system fall under Sagittarius' rule. The O.J. Simpson trial revealed how the chasm of race and gender in America plays out in its legal system- and how a defendant's access to money - or lack of it - sways the justice he receives.
Religion is another Sagittarian domain. The Catholic Clergy pedophile scandal, the burgeoning strength of religious fundamentalism of all flavors, and the mixing of religion with politics are all manifestations of Pluto's journey through Sagittarius.
New moons frequently act as triggers. With this new moon so close to Pluto, it is liable to trigger the energy Pluto has been accumulating through its journey through Sagittarius.
We are likely to see it manifest as an explosive event on the world stage highlighting the use of or a change in the balance of power in the realm of politics, government, law or religion.
Watch the headlines next week.
If your personal or business chart has planets or sensitive points near 28 degrees of Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini or Virgo this New Moon will feel like a rocket with an extra-powerful booster engine. It can power you past inertia and other obstacles. This energy is helpful if you are working out your company's vision or your personal vision quest, implementing a marketing plan, or embarking on travel.
Hold on to your hat and enjoy the trip.
Daily Forecasts Times listed are based on Eastern Time Zone.
December 15We are pulled in two different directions today. Our planet of communication, Mercury makes a harsh aspect to rebellious Uranus today. Our impulse is to speak our mind no matter what the cost. Yet, Moon in Libra craves harmony and wants to smooth things over. Surprising or shocking news is likely, but so is a different perspective on a vexing issue.
December 16Intensity heightens as the Moon, now in Scorpio paves the way for the upcoming meeting of the Sun and powerful Pluto next week. Half measures won't do. Fortunately, today, Sun's flowing trine to Saturn grounds us and gives us needed focus.
December 17Today is an excellent day to clean up loose ends on projects started in the last few weeks as the Moon nears the end of the current lunar cycle. Take note of your dreams this morning. Let go of that which is no longer useful.
December 18The Moon enters Sagittarius lifting our emotions. The Sun shines its light on Pluto today, an annual occurrence. We are asked to look at matters that we would prefer to keep in the dark including the dark side of our personalities. But today is an excellent opportunity to heal and release old wounds.
December 19Today favors bold, unusual and creative thinking as Mercury makes a sextile to Neptune, planet of dreams and vision. Venus, planet of values and relating, also makes a sextile, but to iconoclastic Uranus. Taking a different tack with partners is likely to yield beneficial results.
December 20The moon meets Pluto and brings its energy to the Sun to begin the new lunar cycle. You can transform on a deep level now.
