Astrological Forecast for December 28, 2006 to January 3, 2007

by Ellen Zucker

Happy New Year!

This week, as we usher in 2007, we have an excellent opportunity to indulge our inner Capricorn by designing our goals for the coming year.

The Sun, Venus, and, beginning today, Mercury occupy the sign of Capricorn. After the excesses of the holiday season, our thinking becomes more ordered, logical, and grounded.

For most of us, the New Year is a blank slate: a new beginning, a chance to clean up our act. We naturally think of planning at this time of year. It is no accident that this when we indulge in that time-honored custom: creating New Year's resolutions.

Unlike the earlier part of the month when it was hard to settle on any one of the many glittering possibilities at your feet, now it is easier to discern between workable ideas and the merely good ones. You can then commit to developing the former.

Opportunities tend to occur when there is a supporting structure in place. This time of year, when the Sun is traveling through Capricorn and the moon is waxing, is ideal for laying the groundwork for the year. This applies equally to your personal life as well as your business.

If you choose your goals carefully and commit to them, you can create the conditions that will enable you to make a great deal of progress in the coming year.

So... what are your New Year's goals for 2007?

Mercury, and our mental processes are both moving quickly now. Quicksilver Mercury zips through Capricorn in barely three weeks.

Capricorn is a conservative sign. During Mercury's visit through this sign, your ideas will be better received if you package them in a practical, concrete way especially when presenting to people in authority.

With Mercury moving so quickly this month, January is an excellent time for Mercury ruled activities such as speaking, writing, communications of any sort, and signing contracts.

Your thinking is grounded so you can be realistic and clear in your dealings.

It is best to handle matters that require a clear, focused mind in January. In February, Mercury will slow and go retrograde mid-month. At that time you will need to switch gears.

On Wednesday, Venus enters Aquarius lifting our spirits, helping us to reconnect with friends and organizations.

Daily Forecasts
Times listed are based on Eastern Time Zone.

December 28
With Moon in Aries and the Sun in Capricorn, both action oriented signs, we are anxious to move ahead. We can achieve a great deal, particularly later in the day as the Moon makes a soft aspect to Saturn, giving the Aries impulsiveness much needed discipline, and then Pluto, giving our emotions power.

December 29
The Moon enters Taurus, grounding our emotions. It feels comfortable to be grounded. We enjoy simple physical pleasures, such as smelling the roses. Today is a good day to organize and review financial matters - security-minded Taurus feels better when it knows that financial details have been addressed.

December 30
The saying about picking your fights carefully applies today. It is easy to feel compelled to defend your position to the bitter end whether or not you are right and whether or not the fight is worth the cost.

December 31
The mood lightens as Moon enters vivacious Gemini. Mars makes a sextile aspect, a soft contact, with Neptune adding magic to the New Year's Eve celebrations. The Moon opposes Jupiter, planet of good times and excess. We ring in the New Year with gusto. Make sure there is a designated driver for the ride home.

January 1
Happy New Year. People are chatty and feeling social. The promise of the New Year opens people up to optimism and excitement.

January 2
The mood turns more inward as the Moon enters Cancer at 10:14 am EST. We may feel pulled between our duties at home and work.

January 3
Today's Full Moon at 8:57 am gives us the opportunity to look at how far we have come and how far we have yet to go. Mercury, planet of communication, makes a soft aspect to Uranus, planet of new technology. We realize that it is important to be open to incorporating the new into our lives, but in a balanced, sensible way.
