The Gemini New Moon of May 27, 2006by Ellen Zucker
Every picture tells a story, so says the old Rod Stewart song.
And every astrological chart also tells a story, too. New Moon or lunation charts, describe the themes in play for the coming month.
When I look at the New Moon chart for Washington D.C., I see a story of power versus the people.
Pluto is overhead in Sagittarius, the sign in which it has been traveling for the past eleven years. It is making an uncomfortable relationship, the semi-square, to its ruler Jupiter, the planet of ruling our legal system. Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, is in the sign of Jupiter and Jupiter is in the house of Pluto tying these planets more tightly together.
The Court and the Executive branches are bickering with each other. They are trying to decide who is going to have the last word about secrecy and power.
But what is interesting about this chart is that, except for Pluto and Jupiter, every other planet is at the horizon or below. 'Big Government' sits high up on its perch exerting pressure on those down below.
Sun/Moon and Mercury flank the absolute bottom of the chart. It is as if, nestled unseen on the bottom, they gaze upward trying to make sense of all that is going on.
There is lots of energy buzzing on the ground – in the grass roots. But what is being perceived from the top down? And from the bottom up?
Mercury, planet of news and communication, just squared Uranus, planet of surprises. People are discussing the headlines. A square is a harsh aspect, so the news comes as a jolt to some.
The Gemini Sun/Moon stand near the bottom of the chart from the left in third house of ideas, thinking, and mental processes. And Mercury, their ruler, stands at an equal distance from the bottom of the chart from the right, in the 4th house of family, home, heritage, and roots.
Perceptions keep shifting as the general population makes observations and evaluates information presented to them so they can determine how it will affect them. Congress, about to break for recess, has its ear to the ground.
In the meantime, questions keep arising about the huge allocation of resources to the military. Ultimately, this means less money for other needs. But with no direct aspect between the Moon, the people, and Venus, resources, budget decisions are out of the hands of the general population for the time being.
Stay tuned. © Ellen Zucker 05/20/06
